I had the opportunity to document another great wedding so early on in the year in January. This time, it was Mai and Brandon’s wedding at the beautiful Vizcaya Mansion. I love this venue! It’s very elegant and charming and suited the couple perfectly! She works in insurance and he works for the federal government and also served 8 years in the Air Force with deployments to Afghanistan and Qatar. They’ve been together for quite some time before they got engaged. When the time came to propose, Brandon was being sly about it. Once day, he had Mai try on wedding rings for “when the day comes.” After one was picked out, he purchased it without her knowing and brought it with him on their Hawaiian trip, which was to celebrate Mai’s birthday. Being nervous all the way to Hawaii, he kept the ring close with him and kept it from Mai from finding out. After dinner at Mama’s Fish House in Maui, they ended up down by the water where Brandon popped the big question. He had asked a passerby to help take pictures of them (Mai thinking it was just that) but instead, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. How do you say no to a wedding proposal in beautiful Maui? They also got some great pictures and videos to show the proposal! Before their wedding day, I was a bit nervous because of all the rain and flooding that we’ve been having in California. I watched the news religiously and sure enough, it rained on their wedding day! Early in the day, the weather was quite dry and no rain, but right when photo time came, it rained! Luckily, we had a plan b and got to do photos both outside and inside the mansion. Their wedding also had one of the largest and brightest sparkler exits that I’ve taken pictures of. It was truly a great start to the 2017 wedding season! I also got to take pictures of them at San Francisco’s City Hall a few days later, which I will be sharing in another blog post. Congratulations to Mai and Brandon on their marriage!
A big thank you to all these vendors and participants that helped make the day possible. If you were a vendor for this wedding and not listed below, please contact me so that I can give you proper credit.
